Summary:PURPOSE:To eactly display the quantity of a tape, and to exactly stop the running of tape, by counting a tape running control signal of a video tape recorder by a microprocessor, and generating a signal in coincidence with a set number value. CONSTITUTION:A microprocessor 1 is constituted of a counter 3 for counting a signal from a control signal circuit 2, a memory circuit 5 for storing a numerical value inputted from a numerical value setting circuit 4, and a comparing circuit 6 for comparing the counter 3 and the memory circuit 5, and providing an output. An output from this comparing circuit 6 is inputted to a stopping circuit 7 for stopping running of a tape. The numerical value setting circuit 4 and the memory circuit 5 set a running stop position of the tape.
