Summary:PURPOSE:To designate a region to be erased accurately, by setting discrete point on the curve surrounding the region to be erased from a hand-written picture and forming rectangles with lines, which pass through respective points and are parallel with the axis X, and segments which pass middles between respective points and are parallel with the axis Y. CONSTITUTION:In case that a part of a hand-written picture is erased, a closed curve C1 is described surrounding this region. Points P1-Pn (n=12 in figure) existing discretely on the curve are set, and lines m1-m5 which pass through respective points Pi and are parallel with the axis X are drawn. Next, segments l1-ln (n=8 in figure) which pass throuhg middles between adjacent points Pi and Pi+1 passing through adjacent points, thus forming rectangles. These rectangles are defined as erase sections; but if plural rectangles are formed between adjacent lines such as lines m4 and m5, these rectangles are defined as erase sections alternately. No segment l is generated between adjacent points having the same Y coordinates (such as points P4 and P5 and points P6 and P7). Thus, the length between points Pn is expanded or reduced in accordance with the pen speed to designate accurately the region to be erased.
