Summary:PURPOSE:To enable to achieve highly accurate control on fuel injection timing with no influence of deterioration with time, by feedbacking the actual combustion timing in a cylinder to an aimed combustion timing calculated from signals representing various operational conditions of an engine, and controlling an injection timing controlling means according to the deviation between these two timings. CONSTITUTION:An ignition timing controlling apparatus of this invention comprises an operational condition detector 1 for detectin various operational conditions such as engine speed and fuel injection quantity and a reference timing detector 2 for generating a reference timing signal at a prescribed angular position of a crank shaft, and it calculates an aimed combustion timing at a calculating means 4 from the output signals of the above detectors 1, 2. Further, the aimed combustion timing is compared with the output of an actual combustion timing signal representing the timing at which fuel injected into a cylinder is burnt actually, and the calculating means 4 produces a signal representing the devation between these two timings. The fuel injection timing of an injection pump 6 is adjusted appropriately by controlling an injection timing adjusting means 5 in response to the output signal of the calculating means 4.
