Summary:PURPOSE:To carry out the production of good-quality polyolefin stably and economically, by polymerizing an olefin in a vapor phase in a specified vapor- phase polymerization apparatus, discharging gaseous components and the formed polymer from the same exit and separating one from the other by means of a cyclone. CONSTITUTION:Into a horizontal type polymerization apparatus 3 equipped with blades 1 and a small chamber 2 for supplying a material gas is fed a material olefin gas 4 through small holes provided on the side wall portion of the small chamber 2, and are further fed a catalyst 6 and, if necessary, hydrogen 7 and a cooling liquid. The mixture is polymerized in a vapor phse. The entire portion of the recirculation gas and the overflowed polymer are fed together from the apparatus 3 through a conduit 8 to cyclone 9. The polymer is separated and passed to a receiver 10 and withdrawn from the system by intermittent opening and closing of ball valves 11 and 12. The gaseous components separated in the cyclone is fed to a cooler 13 to liquefy the gasified cooling liquid. The separated cooling liquid is recirculated through a receiver 14 and a cooling liquid pump 15, and the gaseous components are recirculated by a gas recirculation blower 16.
