Summary:PURPOSE:To obtain the titled inexpensive molded article having a high-density skin and dense cellular structure with a slight shrinkage, by incorporating an inorganic compound capable of dissociating bound water thereof at a specific temperature or below as a foaming agent in place of water with raw materials for the foam. CONSTITUTION:A polyhydroxyl compound, e.g. sucrose, is mixed with an organic polyisocyanate, e.g. hexamethylene diisocanate, an inorganic compound, e.g. alum capable of dissociating the bound water thereof in an amount of 0.5- 10pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. polyol component at 200 deg.C or below, and a catalyst, e.g. triethylenediamine, and a foam stabilizer, e.g. an alkylene oxide- modified polydimethylsiloxane, and if necessary a filler, etc. and injected into a mold to give the aimed molded article. EFFECT:Improved strength and reduced cost of housings for electronic equipment and improved surface tear strength of automotive interior trim parts.
