MANUFACTURE OF HIGHLY EXPANDED POLYOLEFINIC RESIN

PURPOSE:To simply manufacture a highly expanded polyolefinic resin by molding a polyolefinic resin under a condition that the resin is bridged at a gel fraction of 20% or less and a H.M.I. value of 15g/10min in the presence of an organic peroxide. CONSTITUTION:A polyolefinic resin is subjected to a...

Summary:PURPOSE:To simply manufacture a highly expanded polyolefinic resin by molding a polyolefinic resin under a condition that the resin is bridged at a gel fraction of 20% or less and a H.M.I. value of 15g/10min in the presence of an organic peroxide. CONSTITUTION:A polyolefinic resin is subjected to a cross-linking treatment by heating in the presence of an organic perxode to such an extent that gel fraction reaches 20% or less and H.M.I. reaches 15.0g/10min or less. Afterwards, the polyolefinic resin so treated is mixed with an organic solvent type blowing agnet of a low boiling point at a high temperature and a high pressure, and the mixture is extruded into a low-temperature and low-pressure region. Thus, a highly expanded polyolefinic resin can be manufactured economically by a simplified process.
