Summary:PURPOSE:To provide lubricity and required corrosion resistance to a steel plate for drawn and ironed cans by coating at least the surface to be subjected to ironing of the steel plate with electro-coating paint in a specific thickness range. CONSTITUTION:Coating by electro-coating paint of >=0.5mu, <10mu thicknesses is applied on the surface to be subjected to ironing or both surfaces of a skin- tempered plate of aluminum killed steel. In this case, the amt. of coating can be easily electrically controlled, and since throwing power is good, the uniform coating is accomplished. When corrosion resistance is required, Ni, Sn or Cr alone or an alloy layer of these metals is applied on the surface of the steel plate prior to the coating of the electro-coating paint.
