Summary: | PURPOSE:To keep a stable rolling friction state constantly and to inhibit change, slip and chattering at neutral point, by using lubricating oil having a specified viscosity and Falex test value for the cold rolling of steel plate at different peripheral speeds. CONSTITUTION:A fatty acid ester such as methyl stearate, a dibasic acid ester such as dibutyl sebacate, etc. are mixed together to obtain the titled lubricating oil which has a viscosity of 15cst or lower at 40 deg.C and a Falex test value of 2,000lbs or above in cold rolling at different peripheral speeds where the peripheral speed ratio of an upper rolling work roll to a lower rolling work roll is 1.0/1.5 or smaller. This lubricating oil is used as such. Alternatively, the lubricating oil is mixed with water, and the resulting emulsified oil is used for cold rolling at different peripheral speeds. Examples of said lubricating oil are ethyl oleate alone, a mixture of methyl stearate, mineral oil and dibutyl carbitol, and a mixture of ethyl laurate, a dialkylnaphthalene and mineral oil. |
