Summary:PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance and prevent electrolyte from leaking by using an insulator made of almina single crystal and metalizing with Ti alloy the areas of contact with metal electrodes and providing a hermetic seal. CONSTITUTION:Seramics insulator plates 3 made of an Al2O3 single crystal which does not contain a glassy material are arranged between positive electrodes 1 and a negative electrode terminal 2. Metalized layers 4a, 4b consisting of an Ag-Cu-Ti alloy are provided on the areas of contact between the surfaces of the insulator plates 3 and positive electrodes 1 and a negative electrode terminal 2. Then, the insulator plates are connected to the positive electrodes 1 and a negative electrode terminal 2 by soldering or the like for hermetic sealing. Containing Ti of 5 percent or more in the metalized layers 4 improves the wetting characteristic of Al2O3 resulting in a better joint. Therefore, it is not necessary for the metalized layers 4 to contain a glassy material which is poor in the corrosion resistance, and the electrolyte is prevented effectively from leaking.
