Summary: | PURPOSE:To prevent the adsorption between a head and a disk and the damage of gap part, by providing a slider plane consisting of a coarse front plane and a smooth rear plane including gap plane so that the front and rear planes are crossed at an <=1 deg. angle. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 21 has a slider plane opposing to a magnetic disc plane. In the slider plane, the surface coarseness of the front plane 25 is taken as about 0.1mum Ra and that of the rear plane 26 is taken as about 0.02mum Ra, and a gap 22 is in the same plane as the rear plane. The crossing angle theta between the planes 25 and 26 is taken as about 0.1 deg.. Since the weight is exerted on the front plane at the standstill of a disk, the disc contacts with the coarse front plane and makes no adsorption, and the gap is floating. When the disc starts rotation, a positive pressure in comparison with an atmospheric pressure is exerted to the front plane and a negative pressure to the rear plane, allowing to lift up the slider front part and to lower the part near the gap. When the gap 22 approaches the disc, the distribution of pressure is uniform, the slider is stably floating, allowing to avoid damage of the gap. |
