Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase attenuating amounts beyond a pass band, that is, the S/N of a signal, without increasing an insertion loss by providing a radio wave shield having a protruding part protruding to a comb-shaped electrode side between plural pairs of comb-shaped electrodes. SOLUTION: In a surface acoustic wave(SAW) element 1, IDT electrodes 3a and 3b being comb-shaped electrodes are formed on one main face of a piezoelectric substrate 2. A radio wave shield 7 is set between the IDT electrodes 3a and 3b in a package 10. The radio wave shield 7 is a frame-shaped or solid part equipped with protruding parts K protruding to the IDT electrode 3a and 3b sides, and it is desired that this radio wave shield 7 is made of porous metal or ferrite. The radio wave shield 7 receives (absorbs) and shields the radio wave of a high frequency signal generated by the IDT electrodes 3a and 3b or a wire 6, and a radio wave which cannot be absorbed is reflected on the both side faces of the protruding parts K.
