Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and surely process each coin by judging whether or not coins to which an identification code is applied are adjacent coins based on identified characteristics, and returning the result and the identification code to a controlling means. SOLUTION: When two coins are carried to an inspecting part 7 in a linked state, a mechanical control CPU detects the passage of the adjacent two coins through a sensor before inspection. At that time, the mechanical control CPU applies one identification code(index) to those adjacent two coins, and issues an inspection request to the inspecting CPU. The inspecting CPU identifies the adjacent two coins, and returns this result and the index to the mechanical control CPU. In this case, the presence of the adjacent two coins is judged by an image sensor 30, dimension sensor 40, and material sensor 60 of the inspecting part 7, and the denomination of each coin is judged. Then, the judged denomination of each coin and the judged result, and the index are response transmitted to the mechanical control CPU.
