Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hinge mechanism for a car seat which can automatically lock the backrest and return it to the last adjusted position when it is raised back after brought down forward, and which has the same level of strength as the existing one. SOLUTION: This hinge mechanism has a fixed side plate 11 and a rotatable side plate which can prevent the fixed side plate 11 from rotating by a toothed slug 23 under the control of a cam. Circular guides with gaps in the radial direction are formed between these two side plates, and the slug 23 is received in the guides. If the slug is disengaged from the gaps in the radial direction, it is held at a retracted position. The circular guides can be prevented from moving as against the rotatable side plate by operating a control plate 36 which is to disengage the slug 23 from the gaps. In this way, the rotatable side plate can rotate freely in one direction. When the gaps in the radial direction of the circular guides return to the position overlapped with the slug after the rotatable side plate becomes rotatable in the opposite direction, the rotatable side plate will be locked again at its original angle. |
