Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and costlessly obtain a stone grain decorative face giving a natural feeling to us, by applying a substrate material that a binder is mixed with powdery and granular stone, on the surface of a base member and applying transparent or translucent paint thereon to form a multi-layer. SOLUTION: A binder, a thickener, and a defoaming agent such as synthetic resin emulsion are added to powdery or granular stone and mixed together and the viscosity is adjusted to prepare a substrate material. At first a sealer 11 of urethane or epoxy resin base is applied on the base member 1 when necessary and the substrate material is sprayed or brushed thereon to form a substrate layer 2. When it is dried in an extent, powdery or granular stone projecting on the surface is scraped by a trowel to sink in the layer. Then, transparent or translucent paint is applied on the surface of the substrate layer 2 as thin as possible one after another to form first-third coating layers 3-5. As subtle differences of thickness and color are brought in the forming process of respective coating layers 3-5, any skillful techniques are not required and a stone-grain decorative face with a natural feeling can be costlessly obtained.
