Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a deep underground structure, reduce an influence on the neighboring ground, simplify an earth retaining wall and improve the quality of a building frame without using such methods as pumping or freezing of underground water and chemical grouting the permeable ground where the level of underground water is high. SOLUTION: Earth retaining walls 10 larger than external walls of an underground structure are built, the ground inside the walls is excavated to a shallow portion while pumping water, and a lower building frame 16 to be installed in a deep portion is built at the excavated shallow portion. After that, the lower building frame 16 is floated by flooding the excavated shallow portion with water, the deep portion is underwater-excavated from the top of the lower building frame 16 while towing the floating lower building frame 16, air shafts 24 reaching the surface of water are mounted on the top of the lower building frame 16, and the lower building frame 16 is sunk quietly in the excavated underwater deep portion while pouring water inside, water cutoff treatment is made for clearances between the lower building frame 16 and the earth retaining walls 10, the shallow portion on the upper portion of the lower building frame 16 is drained, and the upper building frame is built on the shallow portion.
