Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To curb the outflow of a catalytically active component when performing the wet regenerative treatment of a deteriorated catalyst by supplying an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid and a sulfuric acid compound to the catalyst whose performance is degraded and monitoring the wet condition of the catalyst due to the supply of the aqueous solution. SOLUTION: When regenerating a denitrification catalyst whose performance is degraded, soot sticking to the catalyst is removed by activating a soot blower 31. Next, the circulation of an exhaust gas to a denitrification reactor 2 is stopped to cool the reactor 2 and then a catalyst regeneration device 4 is assembled into the denitrification reactor 2. In addition, sulfuric acid is sprayed to the catalyst by moving an aqueous solution atomizer 201 and a television camera 202 installed on the catalyst regeneration device 4. Further, the color change of the catalyst following the impregnation of the catalyst with the aqueous solution through spraying it is monitored by the television camera 202. In this case, the spraying of the aqueous solution is topped at the point of time when it is interpreted that the catalyst is wet. Consequently, it is possible to curb the outflow of a catalytically active component when performing the wet regenerative treatment of the deteriorated catalyst and prevent the activity of the regenerated catalyst from deteriorating.
