Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent merchandise data which need not be rewritten from being rewritten when some of merchandise data stored in a merchandise storage means (PLU file) are altered by making it possible to select items to be altered permanently among items stored in the PLU file. SOLUTION: It is made possible to select items to be altered permanently among the items stored in the PLU file. Namely, this merchandise registration device performs a process for selecting the items when setting data of the temporarily altered PLU file desires to be written in the PLU file in a back-up RAM by operating the cursor keys of a key input part 13 in response to the operation of a storage key 13a while a selection screen for the storage key 13a is displayed on an LCD module. Namely, it is decided whether or not a permanently altered item is selected and when YES is decided, namely, when a touch panel is operated for the corresponding item, the process for selecting the permanently altered item is performed.
