Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a prepreg excellent in surface smoothness, handleability and resin flow, when molded, by heating a matrix resin composition comprising a thermosetting resin composition, a radically polymerizable compound and a polymerization initiator in a process for immersing reinforcing fibers in the matrix resin composition, thus allowing the polymerization reaction of the radically polymerizable unsaturated compound to proceed at the same time as the immersion. SOLUTION: This prepreg is obtained by heating a resin composition comprising 100 pts.wt. of a thermosetting resin composition (preferably a composition comprising an epoxy resin and a curing agent), 1-20 pts.wt. of a radically polymerizable unsaturated compound (e.g. triethylene glycol diacrylate), and a thermally radical-generating polymerization initiator (e.g. 2,2' azobisisobutyronitrille) at a temperature (e.g. 40-140 deg.C) substantially not causing the reaction of the thermosetting resin in the composition in the process for immersing the reinforcing fibers (preferably carbon fibers, etc.,).
