Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve service performance by setting the smaller one between image forming amount obtained till attaining the next regular maintenance time of each copying machine and the image forming amount obtained till attaining the irregular maintenance time to cope with failure as residual image forming amount and selecting the copying machine where the residual image forming amount is the largest. SOLUTION: The main control part 34 of plural digital copying machines connected to a network through a telecommunication line transmits an image forming action state including a fault mode to a system controller 53. The regular maintenance map of a printer 32/42 is stored in the non-volatile RAM of the control part 34. A computer connected to the network compares the residual image forming amount obtained till attaining the next regular maintenance time of the copying machine with the residual image forming amount obtained till attaining the irregular maintenance time to cope with the failure, adopts the smaller one between them as the residual image forming amount of the copying machine and selects the copying machine where the residual image forming amount is the largest so as to perform image forming operation.
