Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance and stabilize a sensing performance of a photosensor by reducing an influence of an excess light quantity or heat quantity from a combustion furnace, and preventing a surface contamination of a heat resistant glass. SOLUTION: The combustion monitoring apparatus 1 for an incinerator 84 having a heat resistant glass 35 for transmitting an incident light L from the incinerator 84 and a photosensor 5 for sending the light L, thereby passing a purged air (a) to the furnace inside of the glass 35, comprises a slit plate 38 having smaller passage holes 39 than a light receiving surface of the photosensor 5 at the furnace inside of the photosensor 5 to limit the light quantity or heat quantity of the light L. In this case, the photosensor 5 is disposed so that an optical axis of the light L becomes horizontal or downward from a horizon, and is provided to be openable or closable for the glass 35.
