Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily estimating a visual sensibility characteristic of woven fabric made of freely selected types of filaments or yarns. SOLUTION: This method estimates a visual sensibility characteristic of woven fabric by (1) finding a fractal dimension of two or more types of filaments or yarns which can be used as the warp or weft, representing their irregularity-related characteristics, (2) experimentally finding a visual sensibility characteristic (e.g., degree of coolness) of the woven fabric in which one of the above filaments or yarns is used as the warp or weft, (3) establishing the relationship between the visual sensibility characteristic of woven fabric and fractal dimension, and (4) estimating the visual sensibility characteristic of woven fabric made of freely selected types of filaments or yarns using the above relationship.
