The gas having the controlled oxygen concn. is diffused into second and third chambers 7, 8, and oxygen ions formed by selectively dissociating at least oxygen contained in the gas diffused into the second chamber 7 are pumped to selectively dissociate at least oxygen and NOX contained in the gas diffused into the third chamber 8. Oxygen ions dissociated by the decomposition of oxygen and NOX are pumped to calculate the concn. of NOX gas, on the basis of oxygen pumped from the second chamber 7 and oxygen pumped from the third chamber 8.
