Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the arirtightness of the contact portion between a packing and a plasma electrode even after the elasticity of the packing itself is lost. SOLUTION: A packing storing chamber 11 is arranged on an upper part of a ceiling wall 3 of a plasma arc type ash melting furnace 1. A plasma electrode 4 is hung down while passing through a hole formed in the packing storing chamber 11 and the ceiling wall 3. An annular packing 12 is arranged inside the packing storing chamber 11. An inside hole 12a of the packing 12 is in close contact with the outer peripheral face of the plasma electrode 4 that has a circular cross section. A plurality of pressing plates 15 are arranged on the outer peripheral face of the packing 12. The pressing plates 15 are not fixed on the packing storing chamber 11. The packing 12 is urged toward the plasma electrode 4 side by means of a coil spring 16 provided under a compression state between the inside wall of the packing storing chamber 11 and the pressing plates 15.
