Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve the noncoincidence of use languages due to the noncoincidence of the type of software on a computer-side and that of a digital camera-side by discriminating the type of software introduced to a computer and changing a processing in a digital camera, based on the discriminated result. SOLUTION: At a mode for transferring a picture, a digital camera 1 calls a personal computer 1000. When the personal computer 1000 is connected, the personal computer 1000 starts a communication processing and transmits data on an operating system OS to the digital camera 1. The digital camera 1 checks whether language data is received or not. When data cannot be received, the warning display of effect that data cannot be transferred is given to a display part. Then, the digital camera 1 checks whether the discriminated type of OS is similar to that of the digital camera 1 or not. When they are different from each other, the character form of a photographing date recorded in a memory card is charged and is transferred to the personal computer 100.
