Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having a new oxime ether structure having a substituted alkenyl moiety useful as a bactericide/insecticide. SOLUTION: A compound of formula I [X is N or CH; Y is O, S or NR6 ; A is H, a halogen, cyano, a 1-12C alkyl or a 1-12C alkoxy; R1 and R6 are each H or a 1-4C alkyl; R2 is H, a 1-12C (halo)alkyl, a 3-7C cycloalkyl or the like; R3 is H or a 1-4C alkyl; R4 and R5 are each H, a 1-4C alkyl, an aryl or the like], e.g. methyl 3-methoxy-2-[2-(((1-methyl-3-(2'-chlorophenyl)-2-propenylidene) amino)oxy)methyl)phenyl]propenoate. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reacting an unsaturated oxime of formula II with an appropriately substituted benzyl derivative of formula III (Z is a halogen such as bromine, chlorine or iodine).
