Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a console message identification system which makes it possible to adequately grasp the contents of a message displayed at the display part of a console in a relatively short time. SOLUTION: If an error occurs to respective hardware parts (or respective software parts) while data are read out of a magnetic disk 5 (magnetic tape 7), an application program (processing AP) 11 for processing detects the error and analyzes its error contents. The corresponding message is read out of a table 1 and the corresponding identification number (ID number) is read out of a table 3 respectively. A display controller 15 is requested through an operating system(OS) 9 to output the message having the identification symbol corresponding to the above ID number added at the head. The controller 15 extracts the identification number corresponding to the ID number from identification symbols registered previously as external characters, generates image information of the message having the identification symbol added at the head, and outputs the image information to the console display 17.
