Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of low molecular weight resin for toner in a short time by copolymerizing a styrene based vinyl monomer and an alkyl(meth)acrylate in an organic solvent using a specific peroxide as a polymerization initiator. SOLUTION: The copolymerization of a styrene based monomer (e.g. styreme or α-methylstyrene or the like) and an alkyl(meth)acrylate (e.g. methylmethacrylate or n-butylacrylate or the like) is carried out in an organic solvent using a peroxide of the formula (R is a 1 to 5C alkyl; R is a 2 to 5C alkyl), [e.g. di(1,1-dimethyl-bytyl)peroxide, di-t-amyl peroxide or the like]. A prescribed peroxide is normally used in amount of 1 to 20 wt.% preferably, 2 to 10 wt.%. based on the sum of the monomers. |
