Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent spin-off and to improve the yield in a process of applying a lubricant on the surface of an optical recording medium by properly applying ultrasonics on the medium so as to purify the disk surface to increase the bonding ratio of the lubricant molecules. SOLUTION: After a specified magneto-optical recording layer and a dielectric layer are formed in vacuum by sputtering on a substrate preferably comprising an easily formable resin, a lubricant is applied on the substrate in air. In this process, the optical disk 1 is dipped and held in a chemical liquid container 4 filled with a soln. prepared by dissolving perfluoropolyether or the like in an alcohol solvent, and ultrasonic waves are applied by using an immersion ultrasonic oscillator before, after or during coating. Thereby. even if a minute gas such as nitrogen oxides deposits on the disk surface when the disk is exposed to air, the gas is removed by cleaning so that decrease in the adsorption rate of the lubricant due to contaminants can be prevented. Therefore, spin-off due to uneven distribution of the lubricant during the disk is rotated can be prevented, and the bonding ratio of the coating material can be uniformly increased.
