Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make reducible the deforming quantity of a shaft by fixing the upper part of the shaft of a magnetic recording and reprodu device of a helical scanning type consisting of a rotary cylinder, to the device main body so as to considerably increase rigidity than that of the structure of a cantilever beam. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording and reproducing device main body is provided with a plate 24 and a guide plate 26 fixed with a screw 25, a hole is formed at a tip part to fit the stepped part of a shaft tip and after fitting, the stepped part is fixed with a screw 28 through a washer 27. The hole for fitting has a structure to fix by the friction of the stepped part and the surface of the plate 26 by fastening the screw. Thus, the upper part of an upper cylinder where a drum assembly 1 is rotated is fixed to the device to improve rigidity to obtain a satisfactory recording and reproducing device of small track deviation whose deflection of rotation is extremely small even when force made by unbalanced rotation is generated.
