Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject agent having excellent fastness to light and fastness to washing, by including a specific diaminobenzene derivative as a developing substance. SOLUTION: In an agent for oxidative dyeing comprising a combination of a developing substance and a coloring substance as a main agent, the objective agent contains preferably 0.005-20.0 wt.% of a compound of the formula (X is O, S or the like; R1 to R4 are each H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-4C hydroxyalkyl, a 2-4C dihydroxyalkyl or the like; R5 is H or the like; R6 and R8 are each H, hydroxy or the like; R7 is a halogen or the like) [e.g. 2,5-diamino-1-(2-thienyl-) benzene or the like] as the developing substance. Preferably the agent contains about 0.005-20 wt.% of 2,6-diamino-pyridine or the like as the color substance. The compound of the formula is a new compound.
