Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for electric automobiles, which is capable of preventing the interruption of heating due to over heat protection of a fuel burning heater, without operating a refrigerant compressor. SOLUTION: The air conditioner 1 for an electric vehicle allows switching of modes between a fuel burning heater-hot water heating mode for heating the car interior by using a fuel burning heater 9 and a heat pump-hot water heating mode for heating the car interior by using a heat pump 4. In this case, when the actual hot water temperature approaches a predetermined over heat protecting temperature (for example, 85 deg.C) at the time of the fuel burning heater- hot water heating mode, the burning capacity of the fuel burning heater 9 is controlled so that the actual hot water temperature is equal to the upper limit value of a target hot water temperature which is usually set lower as the heating heat load becomes smaller. Thus, even when the heating thermal load is a little changed and the heating capacity of the fuel burning heater 9 has enough power to momentarily raise the hot water temperature, the actual hot water temperature does not reach the over heat protecting temperature. |
