Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having a cathode material with less capacity loss in a high voltage (5 volt) region and excellent cycle characteristics and provide a manufacturing method of an oxide for the cathode material. SOLUTION: A lithium secondary battery has a cathode made of lithium-iron- manganese oxide (LiFex Mn2-x O4 , 0<x<=0.5) or lithium-iron-cobalt oxide (LiFex Co2 O4 , 0<x<=0.5). The manufacturing method of the oxide contains a first process weighing MnO2 and Fe2 O3 or MnO2 and Co3 O4 , then mixing them with either one lithium compound of LiOH, LiCO3 , LiNO3 , a second process reacting the mixed materials at 650-900 deg., and a third process cooling the reacted product.
