Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high precision method for judging coking time and a method for judging coking time which can automatically follow the change in the brands of coal. SOLUTION: The remaining time (y) until coking time after the time (tmax ) at which a maximum gas temperature (Tmax ) has been measured can be calculated by using the multiple regression equation of: the time (x1 ) from tmax to the present time (t); the gas temperature (x2 ) at a first predetermined retroactive time from tmax ; the difference (x3 ) between x2 and the present gas temperature; the difference (x4 ) between the gas temperature at a second predetermined retroactive time from the present time and that at the present time; the time (x5 ) from the time of having introduced coal to tmax ; the amount (x6 ) of the coal introduced; and the water content (x7 ) present in the coal introduced. The coefficients of this multiple equation are studied based on the observed values.
