Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable manufacturing of a thermoelectric material having a very high performance index [(Seebeck coefficient) /(electric resistivity × thermal conductivity)]. SOLUTION: According to this manufacturing method, a thermoelectric material of a compsn. contg. at least one kind of element selected among Bi and Sb and first one kind of element selected among Te and Se is manufactured such that a material 1 having an absolute value |α| of thermoelectromotive force, 230<=|α|<=320 μV/K and electric resistivity ρ, 1.2×10<-5> <=ρ<=3×10<-5> Ωm is selected as a blank to be extruded and deformed by the extrusion, etc., to manufacture a thermoelectric material having a very high performance index.
