Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the service life of a discharge tube by improving the performance of ignition by means of an ignitor of an AC arc discharge tube and the discharge tube. SOLUTION: A DC voltage is output by controlling a switching driver to actuate a switching circuit composed of semiconductor elements, coils and diodes by the use of a pulse width modulation style circuit 8 and is supplied to an ignitor, and thus, a discharge tube is lit up and thereafter, a DC-AC switching circuit 6 is operated, a full bridge driver circuit 7 is operated and a rectangular wave alternating current is output from a full bridge structure output circuit. All operations and functions of the direct current and the rectangular wave alternating current are monitored by an operation confirming circuit 5 by means of a feedback signal from a current detection circuit 11, and a control function device to maintain the initial setting of an AC arc discharge tube and the discharge tube is formed. A stable operation is always maintained after the lighting in accordance with the initially set environment by controlling the pulse width modulation style circuit and the switching driver circuit by means of the feedback signal from the current detection circuit.
