Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain high reliability of a heat transfer tube under high temperature conditions in the case of applying as a coal-fired high temperature furnace by improving reliability of the tube by lowering a heat transfer tube metal temperature at an upstream side of a heating fluid. SOLUTION: The heat exchanger comprises a duct 22 for distributing a high temperature heating fluid in one direction, and a plurality of heat transfer tubes 23 passing the duct 22 along a direction perpendicular to the flowing direction of the fluid and disposed apart in space in the heating fluid distributing direction in the duct 22 to distribute a fluid to be heated. Two or more adjacent tubes 23 in the heating fluid flowing direction are used as a set, coupled to header 24 out of the duct 22 to constitute a plurality of paths. The fluid to be heated is sequentially passed to the paths disposed at the upstream side of the heating fluid of the duct 22 from the paths disposed at the downstream side of the heating fluid of the duct 22 and heat exchanged. A heat receiving amount difference setting means for giving a difference of heat receiving amounts to tube walls of two or more tubes 23 belonging to the same path disposed at the upstream side of the heating fluid of the duct 22 and at then downstream side of the heating fluids is provided.
