Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the drift or inclination of the axis of a bearing box against the crank axis and resolve the hammering noise of a bearing metal by an intermediate journal. SOLUTION: The bearing wall 21 of the crankshaft 8 of a multi-cylinder engine is formed integrally with a crankcase 2, a tunnel hole 22 inserted with the crankshaft 8 to support it is bored on the bearing wall 21, and a two-piece bearing box 11 pivotally supporting the intermediate journal 8c of the crankshaft 8 is inserted and fixed into the tunnel hole 22. The tunnel hole 22 has a circular arc portion 22a with its axis (q) matched with the crank axis Q on the side opposite to a piston, the bearing box 11 having the same axis (q) is inserted and fixed into the circular arc portion 22a, and the bearing box 11 is fixed by an assembly fixing means 15 regulating the inclination of the axis (q) of the bearing box 11 against the crank axis Q. |
