Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve heat resistance, to enable injection of a liquid crystal line material at normal temp. in the production process and to prevent occurrence of a trace effect by forming into an alignment film using a material containing active groups having optical orientation characteristics. SOLUTION: This element consists of a first substrate 100, a second substrate 101, this film transistors 70 formed on the first substrate 100, a first orientation film 50 formed all over the thin film transistors 70 and the first substrate 100, a second orientation film 51 formed on the second substrate 101, and a liquid crystal layer 90 injected between the first substrate 100 and the second substrate 101. The first orientation film 50 and/or the second orientation film 51 consist of pyranose polymers or furanose polymers, for example, CelCN. By using CelCN, uniform orientation can be obtd. even in an extremely short irradiation time. In this method, the pyranose polymers and furanose polymers contain a photosensitive reactive part and non-photosensitive reactive part. The photosensitive reactive part and non-photosensitive reactive part are included in a specified ratio.
