Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate high speed copying, color copying, and the copying of large sized matter with compact constitution by repeating a process for performing transfer while rotating a photoreceptor in a direction perpendicular to the feeding direction of a body to be transferred. SOLUTION: A cartridge head 5 is constituted by integrating a photoreceptor drum rotating at fixed circumferential speed, an electrifying device, an optical system for image exposure and a developing device which are arranged around the photoreceptor drum. The head 5 is arranged so that the direction of the bus of the photoreceptor drum may be the same as the feeding direction of paper to be recorded 7. While the head 5 is moved in the direction perpendicular to the feeding direction of the paper 7, the image is transferred to the paper 7; and the head 5 is moved back and forth. The toner image developed on the photoreceptor drum is transferred to the paper 7 while rotating and moving the photoreceptor drum from one end to the other end in the direction perpendicular to the feeding direction of the paper 7 passing between a transfer device 6 and the photoreceptor drum. When the transfer is finished to the other end, the paper 7 is fed by as much as width where the transfer is performed.
