Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a small-sized, light-weight controller which is suitable for electric vehicle adopting a synchronous machine which uses as a revolution sensor a resolver adaptable to environments involving oil mist. SOLUTION: A permanent magnet synchronous machine, using a revolution sensor, a current command generating means 220 which generates d-axis current commands and q-axis current commands for the synchronous machine, a dq-axis current controlling means 200 which obtains dq-axis voltage command values Vd*, Vq* based on detection values for dq-axis current obtained from the dq-axis current commands and the synchronous machine current through 3/2-phase conversion process for coordinate-converting three-phase into two-phase, performs 2/3-phase conversion process for corrdinate-converting the two-phase signal into a three-phase signal, to obtain alternating current voltage command values Vu*, Vv*, Vw*, and furthermore performs phase calculation process and speed calculation for use in coordinate conversion process, and a PWM controlling means 210 which outputs signals for driving the power devices of a power converter from the alternating-current voltage command values are provided. Coordinate conversion process is performed using a resolver as rotation sensor and based on phase signals obtained by subjecting absolute electrical angles obtained from the revolution sensor to coordinate the conversion process and converting the electrical angles into electrical angle phase signals, and the synchronous machine is thereby controlled.
