Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an inexpensive manufacture of a discharge lamp, which is avoided an over-heating of an outer wall surface which is improved in shielding an effective beam caused by an electrode. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp is constructed such that a lamp tube 2 is surrounded by a sleeve tube 1, so as to form a ring-shaped space part surrounding a discharge chamber 4, the lamp tube 2 is divided into partial chamber 8, 9 mutually electrically insulated by an insulation means 7 and electrodes 10, 11 are provided respectively in the partial chamber 8, 9. A ring-shaped discharge chamber in cross section is provided in this discharge lamp. A smooth discharge is generated in the inner wall surface of the discharge chamber 4 and there is no generation in the outer wall surface. Accordingly, the outer wall of the discharge chamber 4 formed by the sleeve tube 1 is comparatively cool.
