PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of giving excellent cured products having excellent staining resistance, excellent stain removability and the like by including a specific carboxyl group-having compound, a compound having a functional group capable of reacting with the carboxyl group, and a specific organosilicate as essential components. SOLUTION: This coating composition contains (A) a compound having two or more functional groups of the formula (R -R are each H or a 1-18C organic group; R is a 1-18C organic group; Y" is oxygen atom or sulfur atom), (B) a compound having two or more functional groups capable of forming chemical bonds with the functional groups of the formula in the molecule, and (C) an organosilicate of the formula: (R )n -Si-(OR )4n [R and R are each H, a 1-10C alkyl or an aryl; (n) is 0 or 1] and/or its condensate as essential components. The composition may further contain (D) a thermally potential acid catalyst and/or (E) at least one kind of inorganic oxide sol selected from aluminum trioxide sol and the like.
