Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of displaying a character string of large number of letters in a display region and easily recognizing that an undisplay part exists in the character string displayed on a display means so as to easily display the undisplay part by displaying an effective switch together with the character string of a large number of letters. SOLUTION: The camera is provided with an LCD 71 having a dot display region capable of displaying the character string and a CPU 131 for displaying the character string dorresponding to a switching operation in the dot display region. When the whole of the character string can not be displayed in the dot display region, a part of the character string is displayed and an effective switch mark for showing that the undisplay part exists in the character string is displayed. It is decided whether the effective switch corresponding to the effective switch mark is operated or not. When it is decided that the effective switch is operated, the display part of the character string displayed on the display means is successively switched to display the whole of the character string.
