Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain uneven deformation at the time of executing width rolling reduction in the rear end part of a strip material and to smoothen the width rolling reduction work by controlling a contacting length between dies and the strip material so as to become a set prescribed quantity according to the strip width, at the time of executing the width rolling reduction in the rear end part of the strip material. SOLUTION: When the width rolling reduction is executed to the progressively fed strip material with the dies, at the time of executing the width rolling reduction from the front end part to the intermediate part of the strip material, the hitting speed of the dies and the feeding speed of the strip material are constant, but at the time of executing the width rolling reduction in the rear end part of this strip material, the contacting length between the dies and the strip material is controlled so as to become the set prescribed quantity according to the strip width. In the case of executing the width rolling reduction to the rear end part of a rolled material, the deformed quantity of the rolled material is changed according to the contacting length L. That is, in the case of being short contacting length L, the rear end part of the rolled material is easily deformed as a fish-tail shape, and in the case of being long contacting length L, the rear end part of the rolled material is easily deformed as a tank shape.
