Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously control the flow rate of a reciprocating compressor while not causing much power loss thereof with a simple structure, by setting the suction pressure thereof within a preset range to continuously control the flow rate in response to the supplied quantity of gas on the upstream side thereof. SOLUTION: A compressor is first actuated under no load, and is then manually brought into its operation on 50% of the capacity. When a suction pressure P1 thereafter exceeds a set value Pa, the compressor is brought into its operation on 75% of the capacity with its clearance pocket being opened. If in this state much gas is supplied thereto from the upstream side and the suction pressure P1 exceeds a set value Pb, the compressor closes its clearance pocket and is selectively brought into its operation on 100% of the capacity. A higher suction pressure reduces the load on the compressor in the steady state to increase the flow rate on the operational condition of the same capacity, which results in a drop in the suction pressure finally to a balanced value corresponding to the supply quantity on the suction side. |
