Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart plate-surface protecting property to a form plate and reduce the amount of spoilage requiring for obtaining the inking properties of an picture image part at the first transition period of a printing machine by a method wherein the amount of gum loading before its insertion in a drying part is specified and its drying is carried out in the specified drying time. SOLUTION: When a photosensitive planographic printing plate is gummed, the preferable gum loading is 1-10g/m and the preferable concentration of coating liquid is 1-50wt.% and the preferable time from the finish of the application of gum liquid to the start of drying is 3sec or less. In addition, its drying time is 1-5sec. In the case of the gum liquid, the solvent of which is water, the temperature in drying water or normal drying temperature is preferably 55 deg.C or higher. The capacity of a heater in case of hot air drying system is preferably 2.6-7kW. The requiring times in the preparation of this printing plate in 10sec in a developing part A, 0.9sec in the transition period B from the developing part to a water washing part, 4, 5sec is the water washing part C, 1.47sec in the transition period D from the water washing part to a gum liquid applying part, 1.7sec in the gum liquid applying part E, 1.5sec in the transition period F from the gum liquid applying part to a drying part and 4.6sec in the drying part G.
