Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for preventing the reverse rotation of a fishing reel, excellent in revolution controlling power and durability and quick in operation. SOLUTION: An inner ring body 12 is concentrically fixed to a handle shaft 6 in a reel box body 2. The outer peripheral face of the inner ring body is an approximately regular square. A flange part 15 is concentrically fixed to the handle shaft 6 and an outer ring body 11 having a circular inner periphery opposing to the inner body is fixed to the flange part. A ring-shaped retainer integrally formed in the reel box body is arranged in a gap between the inner ring body and the outer ring body. A roller 13 is held in the ring-shaped retainer and the roller 13 is installed slidably on the inner ring body and the outer ring body. When the outer ring body 11 is revolved in one direction, the roller 13 is moved to a part close to the inner ring body and the handle shaft can be rotated in the same direction. When the outer ring body is revolved in the opposite direction, the roller is moved in the direction of the corner part of the inner ring body, held between the inner ring body and the outer ring body and the rotation of the roller in the same direction is made impossible by wedging.
