Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber connecting member and an optical fiber connecting device by which optical fibers can be fusedly connected without moving discharge electrodes. SOLUTION: A connecting member has a bar shape as a whole and consists of a body 11 and a cover 12, and has a structure in which a cutout part 40 is cut out from the central part of the body and a bridged part 13 is bridged between both end parts of leg parts 14, 15; and the bridged part 13 is provided with a monitor hole 16, and the leg parts 14, 15 are provided with holes 17, 18 each of which is penetrated from the surface of the cutout part to the opposite surface and both of which are on the same axis; and the cover 12 is fitted to the body 11 from the outside of the cutout part 40 so as to tightly close the cutout part 40. Each of the holes 17, 18 is formed so as to have a smaller diameter on the side facing to the cutout part 40 and to have a larger diameter on the opposite side, and the inside diameter is changed at the intermediate part, so that such a structure is preferable that the sleeves 19, 20 having outside diameters corresponding to the change of the inside diameter are inserted into the holes 17, 18.
