Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organopolysiloxane which is suitable for an antifouling coating by adding a specified hydrogen-functional siloxane to a specified alkanediol monovinyl ether in the presence of a conventional hydrosilylation catalyst. SOLUTION: A hydrogen-functional siloxane represented by formula I (wherein R represents an aliph. or arom. hydrocarbon group; R represent H; R is as defined above in connection with R and R ; a is 1 to 50; and b is 0 to 500) is added to an alkanediol monovinyl ether represented by formula II (wherein R and R represent each H, or 12 C or lower branched or unbranched alkyl; and x is 2 to 11) in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst (a platinum catalyst or a rhodium catalyst) known per se to obtain an organopolysiloxane represented by formula III (wherein R represents a group represented by formula IV; and the other symbols are as defined above). This organopolysiloxane is suitable for an antifouling coating and can maintain the antifouling effect for a long period of time. The compd. can be prepd. by simply mixing the organopolysiloxane into a coating agent, which will exhibit an antifouling effect, under stirring. |
