Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for measuring the inner diameter and outer diameter of a bottle opening section and capable of inspecting the bottles of all sizes at the rate of 400 bottles per min. SOLUTION: This measuring mechanism 8 is provided with a drive tube 10 moved in the vertical direction so that a plug gauge 12 is moved downward from above into a finish portion (opening section 14 of a bottle 16) and a ring gauge 17 is moved downward to receive the top section 18 of the bottle 16. A plug gauge spring 20 is arranged between an upper collar 24 fixed to a plug gauge tube 22 and a lower collar 26 fixed to the ID of a ring gauge tube 30 in the compressed state around the plug gauge tube 22, and the plug gauge 12 is normally maintained at the completely extended state. A measuring machine is provided with a means moving the drive tube 10 between the completely retreated position and the completely advanced position and a means preventing the plug gauge tube 22 and the ring gauge tube 30 from being relatively moved when the drive tube 10 is moved to the selected position.
